8.2 Visiting ENERCON
Last week, four colleagues from 8.2 Certification GmbH visited ENERCON in Aurich—and returned with many exciting insights and new perspectives.
Standing in front of the massive production hall where wind turbines are manufactured, it's easy to grasp the magnitude of the energy transition. Four colleagues from 8.2 Certification GmbH had this exact impression after visiting ENERCON in Aurich last week.
From Tuesday to Thursday, the focus was on an in-depth discussion about certifying new wind turbines. Experts from various fields, ranging from software engineers to the Head of Grid Integration at ENERCON, came together for a joint workshop and several technical presentations. This diverse group made for particularly lively and practical discussions.

As a certification body, it is crucial for 8.2 to have a thorough understanding of the latest turbine models (PI-CS/PI-CC technology) and the underlying processes. The goal of the meeting was to collaborate to improve the transparency and efficiency of the certification process to achieve the best possible results for customers. Ultimately, everyone involved is pursuing the same goal: connecting wind turbines to the grid quickly and reliably.
A particular highlight was the tour of the Enercon plant. The roughly two-hour tour of one of the impressive production halls, in particular, left a lasting impression on everyone. The facility's immense size, the production processes, and the manufacturing process's level of detail clearly demonstrated the high standards and extensive experience that go into the work done here.
The setting also contributed to the event’s success: right next to the plant is the Energy Experience Center (Energie Erlebnis Zentrum - EEZ), which features exhibitions on the topic of energy and conference rooms.
In addition to the many technical insights gained, what our colleagues will remember most is the open, collaborative exchange. The visit once again demonstrated the value of direct dialogue and the importance of close cooperation for a smooth certification process and joint progress in the energy transition.
